Smart Lamp

about.

Developed for a KU Leuven Engineering Science project, this smart lamp acts as both a light source and a discreet motion sensor to track room occupancy for crowd control and safety.

Using an ESP32 and OPT101 photodiodes, the system detects passing individuals via light reflection and transmits the data using invisible LED flashes (On-Off Keying) . A secondary module receives these signals and relays them via Bluetooth to a custom Java/XML Android app for real-time traffic graphing . The complete hardware-software solution integrates C++ sensor logic, a KiCad-designed PCB, and a Solid Edge 3D-modeled optical housing.
